Israel to Test AI-controlled Unmanned Combat Ground Vehicle
Defensenews.com reported that next year Israel will begin testing an all-terrain unmanned combat vehicle armed with a 30mm autonomous turret. The M-RCV robotic system uses artificial intelligence and scene-matching technology for route planning, and is part of Israel’s focus on artificial intelligence and other autonomous technologies. The M-RCV includes Elbit’s Iron Fist active protection system as well as “a capsuled drone for forward reconnaissance missions and a passive sensing kit developed by Elbit Systems and Foresight,” the Defense Ministry said. The robotic vehicle also incorporates a “number of cutting-edge technologies including advanced maneuvering capabilities, the ability to carry heavy and varied mission loads, and a built-in system for transporting and receiving UAVs,” the ministry added. The vehicle can operate night or day, and its gun has automatic target recognition, with the ability to track multiple targets and prioritize them. The system includes options for human operational control. For details, visit Defensenews.com.
